Position Summary

Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), The Chief of Staff (CoS) serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO, managing relationships on behalf of the CEO, driving progress around organizational goals, and collaborating with others on the leadership team to achieve those goals. The CoS will play an essential role in several key areas, including stakeholder engagement, strategic project management, and advising the CEO on relevant matters related to the organization.

The CoS is a high-visibility strategic partner that supports the CEO with data driven decision-making, program and change management support, and strategic execution of organizational wide initiatives across Momentus Capital and its subsidiaries. As a member of the Momentus Leadership Team, the CoS will enable the CEO to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders and fulfill commitments to partners, funders, and the Board of Directors. The CoS is responsible for assisting the CEO with identifying the areas of focus and metrics of success. The CoS will work with leadership to understand the drivers and risk of meeting agreed upon metrics, and regularly revisit the metrics and monitor them for progress. The CoS will support the CEO in maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders. In addition, the CoS will monitor the flow of information to ensure the CEO is brought into a project or decision-making process when their input and authority is needed the most.

The CoS will handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities, a combination of long-term projects and the urgent demands. The CoS position is a strategic, operational and facilitative role that requires a willingness to play an active, "hands on" operational and communicative role in the day-to-day activities. The CoS will provide leadership to a small team that will oversee Momentus Federal policy agenda, provide business analysis and administrative support and CEO's executive assistant. The role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, communications, self-motivation, strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Essential Responsibilities

The Chief of Staff will oversee the CEO's Executive Assistant and manage additional resources related to policy, special projects, and initiatives, with specific resources to be determined.

Leadership of Initiatives and Special Projects

  • Oversee large, often cross-functional organization-wide projects or initiatives ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meets the desired outcome.
  • Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick-turnaround projects with minimal outside assistance. Present ideas for special projects that might facilitate the CEO's/leadership's objectives.
  • Work with appropriate stakeholders, including outside parties, to help drive decisions.
  • If necessary, oversee transfer and completion of projects to other stakeholders within the organization.

Oversight of Policy Function

  • Oversee the development of Momentus Capital's national policy agenda (and one staff member) at the federal level and coordinate with internal staff on state local policy agenda.
  • Work across industry working groups and coalitions to ensure Momentus Capital's interests are represented appropriately.
  • Ensure CEO (time and place is leveraged most appropriately).

Communication, Engagement and Change Management Support

  • Acts as the liaison between CEO and other executives, board, funders, and stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and ensuring the CEO's involvement or decision-making at the proper time.
  • Represents CEO in internal and external meetings independently and with other members of the executive team.
  • Partner with Communications team to develop a clear, cohesive CEO communications plan that with provides the internal and audiences with the appropriate.
  • Prepare internal and external correspondence for the CEO.
  • Build relationships throughout Momentus Capital and serve as key information facilitator for the CEO - absorbing new information and prioritizing and synthesizing it for the CEO.

Key Meeting Preparation, Facilitation and Reporting:

  • Build and run cadence for leadership meetings and leadership offsites including agenda development, materials, speaker preparedness. Ensure key decisions are documented and follow up and completion of action items.
  • Provides an independent perspective; this may include providing observations regarding key dynamics during meetings and or sharing relevant information of which the CEO may not be aware.
  • Prepare the CEO for internal and external meetings (via briefing memos or verbal prep sessions).
  • Develop and review Board materials to summarize themes issue in advance.
  • Lead the preparation for cross cutting external party meetings with ratings agencies to ensure content, themes and materials reflect desired objectives.

Administration/ Other Corporate Duties

  • Responsible for the oversight and leadership of the Executive Assistant to the CEO (EA). Some of the duties include:
  • Growth, performance and development of the Executive Assistant, ensuring that the EA successfully manages the CEO calendar and prioritizes their time and schedule to ensure all business-related logistics are handled.
  • Acts as a "gatekeeper," having a sense for the issues taking place in the environment and prioritizing commitments of the CEO.
  • Brings pertinent issues to the CEO's attention in an organized succinct manner.
  • Follows up on contacts made by the CEO and supports the cultivation of ongoing relationship building.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business with 15 years + of experience in operational, at least 2 years of experience in similar position or 9 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) with ability to simplify and explain complex problems to stakeholders of all levels.
  • Financial services experience highly desired.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated experience to integrate themselves into an organization quickly and assess issues that serve as barriers to a team or organization operating at maximum effectiveness.
  • Experience leading and managing department and organizational wide Change Management.
  • Leadership skills with ability to inspire others to achieve common objectives.
  • Strong analytical, operational and execution skills (planning, project management problem solving etc.).
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent judgment and sound decision making in a diverse and complex organizational environment.
  • Collaborative, facilitative leader, with drive for decisive results.
  • Ability to build strong sustainable relationships.
  • Capability to interact within all levels of the organization, Board of Directors, funders and stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance and influence multiple competing priorities.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $124,147- $165,736 and is eligible for an annual incentive.

This role is eligible to work remotely.
