About Feon Energy, Inc.

Feon is pioneering the next leap in energy storage by revolutionizing battery electrolytes, the critical yet often overlooked component. Our pharma-inspired molecule design platform enables us to invent tailored electrolyte molecules for each battery chemistry's unique needs, rather than force-fitting existing materials. This innovative approach allows us to develop high-performance batteries that unlock new frontiers in safety, cost, and energy density. Based in the greater Boston area and born from Stanford University research, we're not just improving batteries; we're revolutionizing how energy is stored and used. Join us in creating a safer, more energized future.

About the Role

Full-Time

On-site (Woburn, MA)

This role encompasses two primary aspects:

(1) Collaborating with the CEO to drive Feon's growth

(2) Overseeing functions including operations, finance, HR, and legal.

As an early-stage startup, we have numerous responsibilities that currently lack a dedicated owner and fall to the CEO. You'll work closely with the CEO to assume many of these duties. At present, these tasks don't warrant separate teams/leads, but this may change as we grow. As Feon expands, some functions might evolve into their own departments (e.g., a dedicated People Lead), while others will remain under your purview.

We also periodically require additional support for other teams during high-demand periods. This could involve assisting product/engineering with project management, building financial models, supporting building both internal and external facing presentations, supporting customer service with information gathering, aiding safety compliance in the R&D lab, helping marketing with event and content preparation, managing grants, or handling customer invoicing. You'll have the opportunity to support all teams during busy periods to ensure smooth business operations.

Role Overview and Key Components

Cross Functional Support / CEO Extension (40%)

Assist the CEO with a variety of tasks, including marketing and business development support, fundraising assistance, investor relations/updates, and creating internal and external presentations. Currently, this will involve significant support for our business development initiatives (as we're hiring a Head of BD), including strategy planning and content creation. Examples include lead generation, data collection, building slide decks, and event coordination.

HR / People Operations / Recruiting (25%)

Handle HR-related matters, including payroll, OKR development/tracking, team culture initiatives, offsites/retreats, and compliance (utilizing a PEO service). You'll also spearhead recruiting efforts, including resume reviews, interview scheduling, outreach, and initial phone screenings. You'll manage our HR and Benefits Platform, Rippling, creating automations where possible.

Special Projects (20%)

Lead initiatives and special projects focused on addressing high-priority issues, testing hypotheses, developing repeatable processes, and hiring individuals to manage them long-term. These could range from 1-week sprints to 2-3 month initiatives. Projects will evolve as we grow, but current priorities include establishing our OKR/metrics cadence, coordinating our new facility build-out, and preparing financial modeling for Series A fundraising in 2025.

Business Operations / Finance (15%)

Manage finance, bookkeeping, business operations, office logistics (including ordering snacks, office supplies, etc.), and legal responsibilities. This includes overseeing our third-party contractors (e.g., bookkeeping/tax services, legal firms).

Criteria

  • Experience with the tasks described above
  • Exposure to diverse, high-performing corporate environments
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to accomplish much with limited resources
  • Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities
  • Strong project management skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Quick learner
  • U.S. work authorization
  • Based in the greater Boston area (this is an on-site position)

Benefits

  • Substantial equity grants
  • Fully covered Health, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) program
  • Flexible Savings Account (FSA)
  • Commuter Benefits
